In 2013, White Smith Cousino supported Benchmark Planning in completing the first Joint Land Use Study for Fort Leonard Wood in south central Missouri. Fort Leonard Wood is located in Pulaski County, two miles south of Interstate 44.
The 2013 Joint Land Use Study identified existing and potential compatibility issues between the installation and the civilian community and set forth a series of recommendations to address those impacts. The JLUS was endorsed by the local governments in the study area, with the goal of ensuring the uninterrupted mission of Fort Leonard Wood. JLUS participants included Pulaski, Texas, Phelps, and Laclede counties, as well as Waynesville and St. Robert.
In 2024, WSC also participated in a Military Installation Resilience Review (MIRR) at Fort Leonard Wood, through a grant from the Department of Defense Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation. The purpose of the study was to identify threats and vulnerabilities related to the long-term sustainment of the installation and its operation and mission.
